Columbus, Ohio - On November 26, 1928, the Lincoln Theatre, then the Ogden Theater, was developed by the local entrepreneur Al Jackson. Designed in the Egyptian Revival style, the theater fulfilled a void in the African-American community by providing a place of entertainment and culture through films, live vaudeville and musical performances. In 1939, the Theater was renamed, The Lincoln Theater. Sadly in the early 1970s, the theater closed its doors not to open again… that is until now.
LIVE! Technologies is honored to be apart of The Lincoln Theatre renovation project that began in 2007, and completed on May 25th, 2009. This historic landmark became a labor of love for the city of Columbus and all the contractors that worked on its restoration.
“It was a great pleasure for LIVE! Technologies to work on the Lincoln Theatre. The challenge of installing state-of-the-art technology in a significant, historical space, and integrating the equipment in such a way that complements, rather than detracts from the restored beauty of the facility, is a work of love.”

LIVE! Technologies knew how important it was to keep the structure’s history intact. After numerous historic projects, CAPA confidently chose LIVE! Technologies as their Audio-visual partner. LIVE! installed the video systems throughout the theater, including a Da-Lite Series 300 16′ X 21′4″ Rear Projection Screen and Christie DW8K 3 DLP projector.
The custom audio system LIVE! chose for the Lincoln utilizes both a networked digital console and digital processing, so with the use of a wireless tablet, an engineer can make adjustments and even mix from anywhere in the theatre. LIVE! Technologies designers and engineers also installed a Yamaha M7CL-48 Digital Audio Console, Yamaha DME-64 Digital system processor, EAW MK series speakers, EAW SB180z and SB150z subwoofers, QSC Amplifiers, Clearcom Intercom, and Toa Paging system.
Additionally, the microphone patch system, developed with CAPA incorporates an integral sub snake system that makes it easier for guest artist to use the microphones.
“There is a great deal of satisfaction in working with a design team that cares about the needs and desires of their clients. CAPA had very specific criteria… and LIVE! Technologies was able to work with CAPA to complete a successful project.”
